As our story opens, Yenushka is searching for something to stave away her inner ghosts. Chance brings her to the classes of the remarkable Master Meema, where she quickly falls under his spell. Meema, however, has has not mastered his own demons and seeing him forces Yenushka to confront her fears and realize her inner self. In turn, Meema's inability to command Yenushka's demons and to recognize her for who she really is finally teaches him a leasson in the limits of knowledge and hollowness of power.
A play without words, "In the Gutter, Looking Up at the Stars' is told entirely through the use of martial art forms originating from around the world, using the traditions of the arts to convey the narrative in it's entirety.
