Who's involved with "In the Gutter, Looking Up At the Stars"

The Creator

Barbara Antonioni is a multiple award winning martial arts promoter and former director of San Shou UK*. Dissatisfied with the narrow focus of combat promotions, Barbara brought in the innovation of choreographed dance style performances of traditional forms and was astounded to see the excitement generated and how audiences embraced the performance. As a result, she has dedicated herself to develop the use of martial arts as narrative theatre. Her mission is to reinterpret the traditional martial arts competition into a creatively compelling spectacle that cuts across cultural boundaries. Her vision is to see ancient arts made relevant once again as a way of communicating a message to new audiences worldwide.
*San shou is full contact fighting on a raised platform called a 'lei tai', originating from mainland China.

A story of awakening; of the journey from darkness to balance, told through the experiences of a young woman seeking something more to life. Told through the grace and beauty of martial arts from cultures around the world, from China, India, Indonesia and Brazil. A spectacle of athletic rhythmic movement colour, and sound.
